Quote: “Know who you are and be yourself always.”

If life is a song and love is the music, then it’s only fitting Marie T.’s happiest memory is a symphony. As a child in Revere, Massachusetts, Marie was in the fourth grade when she first heard her teacher play piano. Those first few notes were all it took—she was hooked.

She ran home to ask her mother if she could take piano lessons, but there was a problem— Marie’s family didn’t own a piano. Undeterred, Marie asked her teacher if she could stay after school and practice. She showed early talent, her teacher proclaiming: “Marie, one day, you will play at Symphony Hall.”

The teacher’s proclamation turned out to be closer to prophecy—as a sophomore in high school, Marie played on stage at the famed Symphony Hall, regaling the crowd with a spirited version of Mozart’s Rondo Alla Turca. One audience member in particular took a liking to Marie’s talents. A tall high school senior approached her and asked if he could take her dancing. She agreed, and years later, they were married.

“I love music. Through music I found so much joy and I met Bob, the best guy in the world,” she said.

Her love of music is perhaps only rivaled by the depth of her faith. “Love your life, whatever it is, because it’s God’s will.” said Marie. “Always believe in yourself and in your dreams.”
